Another One Bites The Dust

It seems that selecting competent personnel to staff Obama’s administration is more difficult than expected. After a series of tax frauds in the first go round we see today that the person in charge of Air Force One has resigned in disgrace over a monumentally  defenseless mistake in judgment. Louis Caldera has bitten the dust after terrorizing the Manhattan survivors of 911 by buzzing them with AF1 and a chase fighter.

And…………wait……..there’s more. Perhaps the opportunities for “gross abuse of power” are alive and well in the Obama administration. He has chosen to retain the Bush/Cheney established military tribunals after all. Oh, and btw, we can’t release all those bad boys because we are still at war with them. Whoops………

Perhaps the view of reality from inside the Whitehouse looks different than the rhetoric of the campaign trail. Perhaps the reality of fighting terrorists is not as black and white as winning an election. War from The Dark Side may be a necessary option after all. Someone help me out, I didn’t see the vetting process at work here. Is this being done behind closed doors without public approval?

  1. I suggest that Obama has more competence in a third of his brain than what was left of Bush’s alochol-ravaged mind when he took office. What’s a minor panic compared to the fiasco of the Iraq invasion that, when we leave, will likely result in a regime more dangerous than Saddam ever was?

And….at least the official who authorized that flyover was held accountable. Unlike say the treasonous exposure of a certain female CIA agent for political purposes by Cheney’s rat.

    lol interesting comment.

I would suggest that managing the White House staff is a relatively modest responsibility when compared to being Commander in Chief of the most powerful military force in the world. Failure to do it well does not instill confidence. Obama must stand on his own now, no more “dubya made me do it.”

Obama’s hubris is showing when he cracks jokes about grounding his girls because they took a joyride in AFI. It was an unnecessary attempt to deflect the discomfort his team caused his “subjects.”

  3. Keep in mind that Obama was not aware of the flyover until it happened. I thought the joke at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner was pretty damn funny. You’re starting to nit pick PT. Have any issues with his policies recently?

Military tribunals are a joke. The Uniformed Code of Military Justice and the Geneva Conventions have rendered them useless.

  4. Anyone care to give me odds on the Taliban taking control of Pakistan? Newsweek article says most of the Pakistani Army is in the east, defending against any attack from India. And that the army has no intention of taking out the Taliban.

  5. I don’t think that the odds are very good. I thought that Pakistan was moving some of their infantry west to help with the Taliban. When I saw Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Meet the Press, he didn’t say anything to raise my confidence in his government.

  6. “I thought the joke at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner was pretty damn funny.”

Gallows humor has its place. Making fun of the aftermath of 911 is not appropriate humor. I find all 911 humorous attempts objectionable beyond description and won’t condone it. I am truly offended by the several attempts at levity this weekend at the White House Correspondence Dinner.

  7. The joke was more about Rush Limbaugh and his drug habbit than about 9/11. I can emphathize with you about 9/11 jokes.

But I think that the phony Republican outrage is due to a lack of fresh ideas and leadership. It appears that the new Republican strategy is the same old one that has been rejected in the last two election cycles.

Instead of making an issue out of satire, which Republicans clearly don’t get, tell me what the hell you want to do in Afghanistan.

  8. “Instead of making an issue out of satire, which Republicans clearly don’t get, tell me what the hell you want to do in Afghanistan.”

Satire? I grew up with Mad Magazine, Playboy, The Florida Flambeau, Lenny Bruce, Jackie Mason, Flip Wilson, hippies, Richard Prior, George Carlin. I was making fun of Nixon while you were pissing in your diaper I get satire.

Obamas remarks regarding his girls was a clear attempt to deflect a bone headed fuck up from sticking to him. “It was serious enough to cost Caldera his job but after all it was really funny……. wasn’t it?” It reflects the lack of maturity that scared me a year ago. One can not dismiss everything with humor. Especially 911. There will never be enough space between that event to allow humor. Hell I still honor Dec 7.

SO this isn’t about being a Republican or Democrat to me its about being President and Presidential. Humor has its place, that event was traditonally one such place. Just not that subject.

  9. Confession: I was somewhat shocked and put off by Obama’s jokes myself. Wanda Sykes was a different story, she was hilarious. But I’m not ready to impeach Obama for it.
